Onebanc Attends Big Brothers Big Sisters Annual Bowl-A-Thon

Forty-five members of the Onebanc staff participated in the Big Brothers Big Sisters Annual Bowl-A-Thon fundraising event on Friday, April 3. With our bright bowling shoes laced up and game faces on, we filled several lanes and had a blast while bowling for a good cause. With money raised from the bake sales at our different branches and personal donations, we were able to raise more than $7,000 for the Big Brothers Big Sisters organization.

Onebanc is teaming up to assist the students of McClellan high school as they run their own campus community bank. Our assistance will include Onebanc guest speakers providing insight and helpful tips to the students, online classes, and branch support/help. The students had their bank grand opening on Tuesday, November 18, with Onebanc’s Mike Shepard, Andrea Rogers, and LaTina Curry in attendance. We look forward to working with McClellan High School and the opportunity to enrich the students’ knowledge of banking.

James Schnoes, Onebanc CFO, Named CFO of the Year Finalist

James Schnoes, Onebanc CFO and EVP, has been named a finalist for CFO of the Year in the 27th Annual Arkansas Business of the Year Awards. Schnoes joined Onebanc in 2013 after leaving the FTJ Group LLC, which he co-founded and served as CFO to develop consumer products for Wal-Mart Stores Inc.

Schnoes joined the Onebanc team with the assignment of helping reverse the financial fortunes caused by the former bank leadership. “It’s a very complicated situation, but it’s been a joy working through it all,” said Schnoes. A difficult assignment that only someone  with Schnoes work ethic could accomplish, his work includes rebuilding policy, practices and procedures, as well as cleaning up the loan portfolio.

The bank has experienced an overwhelmingly positive turnaround since Schnoes came on board. His hard work and dedication has played a large role in rebuilding the Onebanc reputation. Schnoes deserves to be honored and we are so proud of him for being selected by Arkansas Business as a CFO of the Year finalist.

Seventh Annual Cystic Fibrosis Breath of Life Gala, Chaired by Onebanc CEO

The 7th annual Breath of Life Gala, held yearly by the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation, took place Saturday, November 1. This year’s event was chaired by Onebanc CEO and President Mr. Jerry Pavlas, who is also last year’s Breath of Life Gala honoree. The Cystic Fibrosis Foundation created the Breath of Life award to honor an outstanding individual or organization who exemplifies noteworthy dedication to the fight against cystic fibrosis, contributes time and talents to community involvement, and continuously spreads awareness of the disease.

The 2014 recipient of the Breath of Life Award is Greg Hatcher, owner of the Hatcher Agency located in downtown Little Rock. Mr. Hatcher is heavily involved in the community as well, with an extensive list of philanthropic work including serving as former Chairman of the Little Rock Marathon, Baptist Health Foundation Board, Heart Ball, Heart Walk, and more.

This year’s event took place in the Little Rock Marriot’s Grand Ballroom. In addition to honoring Mr. Hatcher, the event celebrated life and the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation’s research milestones of 2014. Onebanc President and CEO, Jerry Pavlas, was honored to be the chair of the Foundation’s event.

Onebanc Hosts Booth at the Arkansas Bridal Fair

Some of the ladies on our Onebanc staff enjoyed hosting a Onebanc booth at the Arkansas Democrat Gazette Bridal Fair on Sunday, August 17. As the only bank at the event, we had Onebanc VP and branch manager Julie Heer, mortgage lending officer Jessica Woodhull, senior teller manager Sara Clinton, and teller Giovanni Jackson representing the company at our booth. The ladies talked about Onebanc’s checking accounts and mortgage loans with all of the beautiful brides to be. “It was a wonderful event,” said Julie Heer. “We shook a lot of hands and let a lot of people know about our amazing products.” Altogether the ladies spoke to 200 possible new customers, making the event a great success for Onebanc.
